Making progress

I'm making some nice progress on my Jaavesi and have gone onto Chart B.  I'm not very experienced in lace or chart knitting but I'm feeling pretty proud of what I've accomplished so far.

What's interesting in seeing these photographs is the obvious area where Chart A transitions into Chart B.  Can you see where I mean?  It occurs 3 1/2 diamonds from the bottom.

I'm not sure how I would have prevented that but if any of you are more experienced in this type of knitting, please feel free to offer some suggestions.  I don't think I have to heart to frog back but I'd love some pointers.

  1. I cannot offer any advice for the pattern, but I have to say that I would never have guessed that you aren't used to lace work. Because this project is simply beautiful!

  3. Hmmm . . . it doesn't look right to me either, especially when compared with the photos of the finished shawl. It looks like some rows are missing? Are there any other test knitters you know of, so you could ask if they had the same problem?

  4. I can't offer any advice either I'm afraid - simply because knitting charts scare the bejabbers out of me so I just steer clear of them. One day I'll attempt to overcome my fear of charts but for the moment I just knit items that have written patterns. I hope someone can offer you some advice though! :)

  5. Hmmm.... it kind of looks like there's an extra row in there or something. But I'm sure it will look fine after you block it!

  6. Hmm I'm not sure about the diamonds, but it looks lovely nonetheless!

  7. Well since it IS a test knit, you should take care to assure that you have not made a mistake and if you haven't, then make sure to report your findings. It could be something mis-written in the pattern. As someone else said, possible an extra row or missing row? Good luck! It looks beautiful ♥

  8. hmmm, is it possible you are off by a stitch? It's hard tell...it looks like maybe it's not even "off" at all, I really had to strain to see what you meant. Might be that everything lays flat and lines up perfectly after it's blocked... going to be GORGEOUS either way! Love the colour.

  9. I would try emailing the pattern writer, especially if you're test knitting.

I can't wait to see the finished product, though!

  10. It's looking so awesome so far, Evelyn. I really admire how you choose full out, great patterns and don't hold back on them.

  11. it's so pretty! And I love charts, but they take a while to get used to. I'd definitely talk to the designer about it and see what's up- maybe there needs to be more clarification in the pattern, or maybe a step got missed. Either way, when it's a test knit, it's good to share with the designer. :)

  12. It is looking very pretty. Love that color. The change is barely noticeable. I would maybe double check the charts where the transition occurred and compare it with the knitted fabric. Do the stitches correspond and make sense? Could be an error in the charts.

  13. Since you are test knitting, I would be in contact with the designer. After all the point of test knittingis to find the errors before it is published. :)
Even with the possible error, you knitting is looking beautiful!
