Yarn Along #3

As part of  Ginny's Yarn Along this week, I'm thinking about upcoming projects.  You see, today is a special day, especially for us knitters.  We get one extra day in the year to do what we love:  knit and make plans for more knitting! Since I'm trying my very best to not cast on anything new until my three WIPs are off their needles, today's yarn along post will be about planning (something I love to do).

At Christmas, I got all my favorite things including these terrific additions to my yarn stash and knitting library.
Quick Knits, Malabrigo Worsted, and Hand Salve

Mark and Miranda went to our LYS (yes, I've taught them well) and picked out two gorgeous hanks of Malabrigo worsted wool.  The skein on the left is a purple mix and the one on the right is bluey-green. What I love about getting yarn as a present is the surprise in what was selected. Miranda knows how much I love Malabrigo but what surprised me were the colors she chose. She knows that my favorite color is green but for reasons I can't explain, I never buy yarn in green or wear anything in this shade. I'm thrilled to have these two new colors to play with.

Over at Ravelry, I'll be participting in Mal March as part of the Malabrigo Junkies group. This is an amazing group of talented and enthusiastic knitters who adore Malabrigo and during the month of March, we'll be casting on all sorts of projects in every variety of Malabrigo you can imagine.  So, from this new book that I got for Christmas, I'm planning to cast on the Quincy Hat in one of these new skeins.

Perhaps you, too, are taking advantage of this extra day in the calendar for yarny goodness? I love to hear what you're up to.

  1. Beautiful yarn, lucky you! I love the colours that were chosen, both are gorgeous :)

I wish I was using today for yarny goodness, but alas my office cares not that it is a leap day ;)

  2. Those are very pretty colours, and the hat is cute! I'll bet you're really looking forward to starting that! Mal March sounds interesting! I have a hank of Mal that I've got in my queue basket... perhaps I shall use March as an excuse to turn it into a hat! hehe.

  4. Your yarn gifts remind me of the afghan my mom's making. She's slowly making a big blanket out of Malabrigo wool in blues and greens. It's lovely - and I bet your hat will be too!
