At Christmas, I got all my favorite things including these terrific additions to my yarn stash and knitting library.
Quick Knits, Malabrigo Worsted, and Hand Salve |
Mark and Miranda went to our LYS (yes, I've taught them well) and picked out two gorgeous hanks of Malabrigo worsted wool. The skein on the left is a purple mix and the one on the right is bluey-green. What I love about getting yarn as a present is the surprise in what was selected. Miranda knows how much I love Malabrigo but what surprised me were the colors she chose. She knows that my favorite color is green but for reasons I can't explain, I never buy yarn in green or wear anything in this shade. I'm thrilled to have these two new colors to play with.
Over at Ravelry, I'll be participting in Mal March as part of the Malabrigo Junkies group. This is an amazing group of talented and enthusiastic knitters who adore Malabrigo and during the month of March, we'll be casting on all sorts of projects in every variety of Malabrigo you can imagine. So, from this new book that I got for Christmas, I'm planning to cast on the Quincy Hat in one of these new skeins.

Perhaps you, too, are taking advantage of this extra day in the calendar for yarny goodness? I love to hear what you're up to.
Beautiful yarn, lucky you! I love the colours that were chosen, both are gorgeous :)
ReplyDeleteI wish I was using today for yarny goodness, but alas my office cares not that it is a leap day ;)
Yes, same here but I'm planning in my head!
DeleteThose are very pretty colours, and the hat is cute! I'll bet you're really looking forward to starting that! Mal March sounds interesting! I have a hank of Mal that I've got in my queue basket... perhaps I shall use March as an excuse to turn it into a hat! hehe.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, let's knit with Malabrigo together this month!
DeleteI love Malabrigo also. Those are perfect shades chosen. I have that Quincy hat in my favs on Rav too! Can't wait to see how yours comes about and out.
ReplyDeleteHope you cast on, too.
DeleteYour yarn gifts remind me of the afghan my mom's making. She's slowly making a big blanket out of Malabrigo wool in blues and greens. It's lovely - and I bet your hat will be too!
ReplyDeleteWow, a blanket out of Malabrigo -- sounds incredibly cozy and warm.
DeleteLovely! Can't wait to see your hat.
ReplyDeleteThanks ... it's such a cute pattern and I know just the gal to gift it to!
DeleteWhat lovely presents!
ReplyDeleteI have finished my first ever sock today. And cast on the second one.
That is so exciting -- can't wait to see them on your blog!
DeleteThat yarn is gorgeous (Gee I say that a lot!) And will look lovely in that hat!
ReplyDeleteI've seen that hat - very neat. Your yarn is beautiful - have fun knitting with it.
ReplyDeleteBest family ever! They picked out the perfect yarn for you! Glad to hear that you are doing exactly what you told me to do (finish WIP's first, THEN start new ones!)
ReplyDeleteQuincy is really a great pattern. You'll have a blast with it!
ReplyDeleteThe Quincy Hat is an intriguing design. May have to take a closer look.
ReplyDeleteMalabrigo is in at least four of my WIPs
