I'll admit that I'm not much of a mystery-fiction reader. I've always wanted to be but somehow, on the written page, mysteries have yet to grab me. A mystery on film, on the other hand, is one of my favorite movie genres, and I'm always mesmerized by true-life mysteries. What does any of this have to do with knitting? Well, I've recently been noticing how much fun knitters have been having with Craftsy's Mystery Boxes and with Mystery KALs, neither of which I've had the chance to participate in yet. But I really love the idea of jumping in on a project that is revealed slowly over time -- a sure way to get out of one's comfort zone (or at least for me).
The other day, as I was enjoying catching up with all my blog reading, I came across Knitgrrl's post about a super fun and mysterious project that she's initiating over on her blog. As soon as I read it, I was in! Basically, those who sign up commit to knitting on a communal project for a specified amount of time before winging it onto the next knitter somewhere else in the world. We all knit differently so the experience will surely be fascinating.
I won't go into all the details here as Knitgrrl has written it all up so beautifully already so if you're interested, take a look. Oh, and for those who crochet, you won't be left out ... they'll be crochet projects, too.
I do love a good mystery ...
Hmmm, I might have to look into this. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI might look into it as well! :) sounds fun. It's cool how you can learn about people on things where they have a chance at putting their own interpretation on the same thing. Like writing a story for example, they continue the story where you started it and you can see its transformation.
ReplyDeleteI joined up and will mention it in my next blog post, which is oh so long overdue! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI did not know that a mystery knit would proceed through a number of knitters. Interesting!
ReplyDeleteHave fun! It would be fascinating to see all the varying styles of knitting & yarns in the project.
ReplyDeleteWhat fun that sounds! One year I will dedicate my time to KALs and CALs.
ReplyDeleteooo! Thank you for this, Evelyn...I do love Hitchcock : ) Checking it out now! xo.
ReplyDeleteThis will be quiet an adventure, Evelyn.
ReplyDeleteIt's going to be an interesting venture, keep us posted, for sure. Lots of pics.
