I'm joining in Ginny's Yarn Along this week.
Do you ever get the feeling that you're just not finishing anything? That none of your WIPs have grown much? That you seem to be knitting the same stitches over and over again?
Oaklet in TFA Blue Label Truffle |
I'm still working on two WIPs KALs (wow, I'm like a secret agent or something). When I saw Truly Myrtle's completed Oaklet Shawl and Sezza Knits' Oaklet-in-progress, I gave myself a little push to get a few more rows done on this very sweet pattern. But then I got stalled again and have to admit that it has barely grown.
My Amari has progressed, but it's kind of taking a nap right now, too, in spite of my complete envy of my KAL partners Erin, Penny, Lisa, and Sandra. Erin has finished hers (waiting to be blocked, I believe); Penny taunts me with her third one on the needles; Lisa, who has never knitted a shawl before has outpaced me; and Sandra has both finished and blocked hers. There are other Amari KAL knitters whose shawls are humming along beautifully, and I love seeing everyone's progress.
In my defense, I have been test knitting a pattern for a wonderful designer (it's finished but I can't talk about it yet), and I'm working on a new hat pattern which I'm super excited about. But no more excuses ... I've got to get these babies off the needles soon or I won't be able to show my face in any other KALs!
As for books, I'm still reading Commencement and enjoying it. Wait a minute, sounds like not much has changed over the last couple of weeks: same book, same projects. Is it Groundhog Day?
This is exactly how I feel about all of my knitting right now! I guess maybe if I would stop sewing stuff (and cooking and cleaning and doing laundry) I might make a little more progress!
ReplyDeleteWell, one does need clothes to wear, food to eat, and a clean abode so you're off the hook! ;)
DeleteIt's not a race, so the important thing is that you enjoy the knitting you do when you do it, no?
ReplyDeleteThat cherry yarn is gorgeous, I can't wait to see more of it.... when you're ready :)
xxxxxxx
PS Did I mention already how much I love your logo?
ReplyDeleteThanks for relieving my guilt! And thanks for the compliment on my new logo - You made my day.
DeleteA hat pattern and a test knit sounds exciting! Can't wait to see...
ReplyDeleteTest knit was so much fun as I didn't get a photo of the FO so it was like a mystery. And I am loving my new hat pattern!
DeleteI can definitely sympathize with you, but you already know all about my sweater problems. Before you know it you will be finishing all of these things in a rush of activity and it will be the best feeling ever!
ReplyDeletesometimes it feels like that with knitting, no matter how much your work it doesn't seem to grow - but keep going with it because soon it'll be huge and you'll wonder where time went. Both your shawls look super pretty :D and I can't wait to see your wee hat xxx
ReplyDeleteI have as many wips as you do! Lol and a very neglected amari shawl.
ReplyDeleteI'm in the same boat... and I'm even getting a touch of startitis. I'm going to be casting on another pair of socks shortly. I have to do something to relieve the pain of knitting this diminishing rib cardigan. Both of your shawls look fabulous. Maybe I'll work on Amari too.
ReplyDeleteYeah..I haven't gotten much done lately..but it's end of the school year, so been busy with report cards, grading...and oh yeah packing the classroom as I'm moving rooms...
ReplyDeleteOh gosh, I haven't finished a shawl in AGES and I have several on the needles... It happens to the best of us!
ReplyDeleteI have as many wips as you do! Lol and a very neglected amari shawl.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad mine isn't the only one not growing, I have only been knitting it in the car, but we don't go that far or often when I'm not also driving!
ReplyDeleteYou're responsible for my having favorited the Oaklet Shawl on Ravelry and I'm going to try really hard to use yarn I already have. Of course, I too have a ridiculous number of WIPs. It's never stopped me before! Just enjoy your knitting :-)
ReplyDeleteI just loved your comment on my last blog post, made my heart sing. As does your blog and knitting!
ReplyDeleteSome things take time and hey there is life too right? I mean you're a mum and work full time during the day yeah? Patience makes everything much sweeter and fuller in the end.
