FO: Amari Shawl KAL

It's hard for me to believe, but when I looked back over my knitting notes, I saw that I cast on my Amari Shawl on May 21 ... and I only just finished it yesterday. Why did it take me over a month to finish this beautiful pattern?

Excuse the lack of blocking

I was so excited to cast on that I started a knit-along over on Ravelry's Juniper Moon Farm Group to keep me inspired and to enjoy knitting this shawl with a fun bunch of friends. Not only were these knitters chatty and supportive; they were also incredibly talented.  Some knitted more than one (and two) Amari Shawls in the time that it took me to finish mine.

This was my first time knitting with Manos de Uruguay Silk Blend and it was gorgeous -- soft, non-splitty, and smooth.  Perfect for wearing next to the skin, this shawl is a little bit of luxury.  I think I'll be gifting this to someone who has a big birthday coming up but I'll keep it a secret for now.

I'd like to knit myself an Amari Shawl sometime later in the summer to enhance my fall wardrobe.  Any yarn suggestions?

  3. I'm excited that it is finished! I'm also surprised by how large it came out, I pictured it smaller but I like it better as a finished object. You should definitely knit it again for yourself! Perhaps in a soft merino?

  7. Looks wonderful. I too am just finishing a shawl I started in May. I think we have too many projects on the needles, or that is my excuse anyways!

I think for fall I would go with something with a bit of alpaca. Yum! ♥

  12. Evelyn, it takes us a while to finish certain projects perhaps because we are easily distracted by brand new patterns that we must try.
    LOL LOL

  13. Our mutual friend Susie Davis suggested that I read your blog. May I say I have knitter's envy at the rate a which you finish projects! I love Manos yarns... and I admit, with chagrin, I have have a great deal of it floating about in my stash. I'm inspired to finish... something! Chela

  14. Says the perfectionist... I hope you've blocked it by now! It is lovely though - and a nice biggish size too! (As opposed to one of those ones that are only big enough to fit around the neck). I'm not surprised it has taken you a while to finish - look at all the other projects you've completed in the meantime!
