Knit with Me!

I'm getting more and more excited about my challenge to knit and sew my fall/winter wardrobe -- ideas are sparking and I need to make sure I don't get too overwhelmed by all the fabulous patterns that I've been looking at and adding to my Ravelry library.  There's been some nice chatter over on the Project: Stash KAL Ravelry group, and it looks like I won't have to knit alone.

Cascade Eco, Undyed

It would be so nice to have some support while I tackle this challenge especially since I'm still fairly new at knitting garments.  So, if you're thinking about casting on a sweater or cardigan for the cooler weather (it will come, right?), I hope you'll join our new Jump for Fall KAL.  I first thought of picking one pattern and inviting knitterly friends to knit along, but I think it'll be more fun for us to pick our own projects and simply encourage and nudge each other along.  Some of us may pick the same pattern and that'll be a bonus but the main thing is that we'll be knitting an actual pullover or cardigan and perhaps can give each other tips as we go along.  A pullover that has been in my library for much too long without casting on is the Oatmeal Pullover by Jane Richardson.  I loved it as soon as Jane released it -- it's a simple raglan, top-down sweater, and I know I will wear it again and again.

At my LYS sale yesterday, I bought these beautiful skeins to start my first fall challenge and I plan to cast on this weekend and knit this pullover on our travels out west next week. Cascade Duo is a blend of merino and Alpaca which will create a super cozy and soft sweater and I chose these undyed  skeins because I love the natural look of the fiber.  Hey, I just realized that casting on will somewhat coincide with the Ravellenic Games so I guess I'll kind of be participating.  Rah rah!

  1. When you showed the picture of that yarn (it is a coincidence that it is in an oatmeal-like colorway?) and then said top-down (no seams!) sweater, I knew right away that this is going to be a beautiful knit! I cannot wait to see you cast in it on!

  4. Great choice of pattern, and what lovely yarn! I wish we had more worsted weight alpaca yarn here - it looks like a great combination!

  7. Oh ironic... I mean that you are looking for some company knitting a sweater, (and you should consider doing a skirt, you could totally rock that), I have at least three sweater quantity lots from ebay shopping that I need r\to match with a pattern and cast on. I'll join you! I bought pattern and yarn for Lewenwick. Going to find yarn, patterns and needles next! Love your KALs!
BTW, which party will you be joining for Sock the Vote?

  9. The Oatmeal Pullover is lovely, so I can't wait to see yours. I just ordered supplies for a Rocky Coast Cardigan and would love to join the KAL, but I seriously doubt I could finish by the end of August. Although the KAL could help motivate...
