I have two skeins of Cascade Ecological Wool and got gauge on US11 needles so I've cast on and already feel the calm and peace I get when I start knitting. Now more than ever, I really appreciate my stash! The yarn is a rich dark coffee color (hence the name of my project) and my plan is to have my fireplace going all weekend, coffee pot full, and knitting project by my side.
Now if I can only think of what else to cook for dinner besides pasta!

ReplyDeleteWe lived without an oven for about six months last year (don't ask!) and I had to cook all our meals on top of the stove (gas). Apart from losing a fair bit of weight through not baking, I got really good at stove top dinners - risotto, yip pasta, stir fries, soup, tortillas, tagines with couscous, fritters - you name it I think I made it :) Good luck and enjoy curling up by the fire. It must be a little like little house in the big woods - without the woods and the bears...

ReplyDeleteGoodness that is a long time to consider being without power! Sounds like you have gas though (thank goodness, I hope it powers your hot water too!) and yay for a lovely stash and the ability to knit by the fire. I'm sure it will be gorgeous too. xx

ReplyDeleteOkay, now I have to ask, how are you able to have access to internet when you have no power? Phone? Not that I'm complaining, I love hearing the lastest Evelyn news! Starting a new sweater is definitely a good way to spend your time, and that color is so comforting. I hope that power is restored soon and in the mean time that you have This American Life, Radiolab, and other wonderful shows to keep you entertained.

ReplyDeleteI was wondering how you fared...we didn't have power last year for 8 days after the freak October snowstorm..Except for our coast, CT got off okay...but I am devastated by what I have seen in NYC and NJ....my heart aches...
