I'll admit that I can get a little obsessive. Just a touch. Up until now, this moment, I have not been a sock knitter. I knit one pair of socks many moons ago and thought that it was okay, nothing to get obsessive about. It was a pair of worsted weight vanilla socks for Mark and when they were done, I moved on to my regular knitting loves: cowls, mitts, shawls, sweaters.
In spite of this, I've always loved reading about the sock knitting that all of you do, and in recent weeks, I've returned to some old posts for inspiration. I remembered recently seeing an eye candy post by my dear blogging friend Andi who is a sock master! In fact, I believe that the majority of her precious knitting time is spent with socks, and she is phenomenal. But don't just take my word for it: check out her 2012 year in review and prepare to drool over her sock parade.
I am being inspired by all of you sock knitters out there and can't jot down sock patterns quick enough. I just finished another pair of toe-up socks that I'll share tomorrow (big love!) and have cast on for celticcaston's Business Casual KAL which is giving me a tiny bit of trouble, but I'll work it out.
All I know is that I've been thinking about some beautiful handspun that I got from the lovely Ivy of Pumpkinspins and think that I just may need to cast on a toe-up, two-at-a-time pair of socks with this yarn over the weekend. A major snow storm is blowing in, and I need something to do while hibernating indoors, by the fire, with some coffee & cake, right?
What gorgeous yarn! Can't wait to see your socks!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Gail. When this yarn arrived in the mail, I was so in love. I think it'll make great socks, don't you?
DeleteDid she spin it? It's glorious :)
ReplyDeleteToe up, two at a time - sounds exciting. I've not done either!
Yes, she did spin it and I am so excited about casting on!
DeleteI'm glad to see you got the sock bug. :-)
ReplyDeleteGive me a shout if you need help with the business casual pattern!
ReplyDeleteYes you do indeed need to cast on some more socks :) glad you caught the bug ;)
ReplyDeleteAh Evelyn you are too sweet. Socks are indeed my addiction. This year my goal is to knit more beautiful sweaters and hats such as yours.
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love that yarn from Ivy! Good luck on your socks, it is a lovely pattern.
Andi's socks are always such an inspiration. I hope you have a chance to start some socks soon, it sounds like you are ready to do it :)PS-- I LOVE the cardigan in your last post, it's stunning!
