I've fallen completely in love with the Merging Ripple Shawl from Knitscene winter 2012 and would even considering knitting it in these colors.

I know ... they're completely different from one another so how will I possibly decide?
I like both as well. Lace weight would possibly make me impatient. I say try sport weight first w/the Merging Ripple project.
ReplyDeleteI like the Holey Shawl - imagine it with something containing silk or bamboo, it would be divine and cool to the touch! (It's WARM here so that sounds appealing to me) ;)
ReplyDeleteFrom your non-knitting friend, I love the swirls on the first one. And imagine how many fantastic color combinations you could come up with!! Either will be beautiful. xoxo.
ReplyDeleteKnit both! I'd say start with the one you're most likely to use fist.
ReplyDeleteooh, both are gorgeous, but I am particularly smitten with the holey square shawl.
ReplyDeleteDo you have the yarn for either or both at the ready? I tend to just go with whatever is more convenient, but personally I have the ripple shawl on my to-knit list.
ReplyDeletelove holey square shawl, but I don't think i could handle the laceweight!
ReplyDeleteDarling Bic, I love them both, but I think the one on top is more sophisticated and versatile. Since you asked! xox Toni
ReplyDeleteSwoon! Personally, I vote ripple which is so eye-catching. For the holey one ... that lace-weight yarn looks small, bordering on tedious and you can't fool me with US5 needles! Either way, we can't wait to see what you whip up!
ReplyDeleteI say do the holey shawl now and wear it for spring and summer - also I think it's more mindless :-) Then do the ripple in the fall!
ReplyDeleteI like the merging ripple shawl!
ReplyDeleteOh they are both gorgeous! I don't think I could cope with the 2ply, so that would make the decision for me! lol
ReplyDeleteWoah. Woah. Woah. I like the first one better, but the second is better for this weather. Hmmm. Do you want something you can wear right away? That's my decision factor.
ReplyDeleteLove both of these options, I can see how you would have a hard time choosing. I think the lighter weight would be more enjoyable to knit and wear in this weather.
ReplyDeleteI love stripes, color and short-rows and the Merging Ripple has all of those. But the Holey Square shawl looks like a fun knit, too. Although knitting with lace weight yarn can be a bit frustrating.
ReplyDeletePerhaps you should simply decide which to knit first .. that ought to be much easier to pin down ... maybe go with whichever you'd wear most in the summer months, and I'm guessing that's the Holey Square
ReplyDeleteAfter my experience with lace weight yarn making the Citron, I say make the first one. In fact I really like that one, I may add it to my list!
