Loopy for New Yarn

Without trying or planning, I've gone cold sheep this entire year which has felt pretty amazing.  Remember, I didn't call this blog Project: Stash for nothing!  I have stash that goes back a number of years and while it's mostly made up of single skeins (from my days as a newbie knitter), I love my stash and have been very focused on knitting it down this year.

And then Mark went to London ... and he wanted to know if there was anything I would like him to bring home to me ... and I could think of nothing better or more wonderful than some British-sourced yarn by an Indie dyer purchased at a LYS.

I've been wanting to knit with yarn from The Uncommon Thread and seeing that Loop London stocks my favorite BFL DK weight, I made my request.

I thought to be frugal and ask for just one little skein, but then I came to my senses and decided that a visit to Loop warranted a sweater's worth of yarny goodness.

So, there you have it, my friends.  My lovely husband gifted me four skeins of BFL DK in the Bois colorway, a luscious textured brown, enough to make myself a cardigan.  Believe me, this will not be sitting in my stash for long.

  2. That will give you a beautiful sweater that should wear very well, and from what I know of BFL, not pill at all. Love the packaging too - so handy for future use!

  6. I don't ever think gift yarn or "special" yarn should be counted if you are trying to go cold sheep. Excellent choice!

  7. Very wise! How often does one get a chance like that? And very sweet of him to do it! It's such a lovely shade. I only hear about The Uncommon Thread, so that's so cool for you to get to experience it.

  13. Super awesome! Yarn all the way from London? That is super cool.
I have so many single skeins now and see how foolish that is as that limits me to certain kinds of projects.

  14. The shop staff tried to tempt me into their knitting circle, whilst I waited for Mark to choose, so I waved my WTF card at them and said I was more about the noodles than needles. Lovely shop though; you MUST come next time xxx
