You already know how much I love working with Patons Classic Wool so yarn choice was a no-brainer especially as I wanted this sweater to be a hard-working wardrobe staple ~ and seriously, don't you love this olive colorway? My sister, Esther, picked up 1,400 yards for me to knit the medium/large size of Tin Can Knits' Flax pullover, and I took only two weeks to knit it.
This is a well-written pattern and for anyone knitting their first top-down raglan pullover, I highly recommend it. The only modification that I made was not knitting the garter stitch panels down the sleeves ~ I'm not a big fan of this detail so omitted them.
Hubby loved getting this sweater from me but I'm going to be completely honest here ... it wasn't a complete success. I'll save that story for another post so stay tuned.
The sweater looks like a one man would totally wear! I've never knitted such a big project so I'm impressed. Great color too.
ReplyDeleteCheers!
Great color. How sweet you knitted for your husband.
ReplyDeleteI will have to check out this pattern Evelyn, the sweater you knit for your husband looks fantastic.
ReplyDeleteLooks great! Am also looking forward to hearing your tale.

ReplyDeleteI already know what's coming so I won't spoil the secret :-) But I do love the color!
ReplyDeleteHats off to you. Knitting a man's sweater is an accomplishment. I'm still afraid of sweaters with that whole aspect of fit!
ReplyDeleteWoohoo, that's an excellent finish! Bravo!!
ReplyDeleteThere may have been drama, but is a fantastic finished object! I can imagine how pleased your husband was to receive such a gift of love!

I really like the color of the yarn, and it looks like a classic! Can't wait to hear part II!
ReplyDeleteA simple and classic sweater...every man would love to get one of these under the tree! Great job knitting it in just two weeks, too!
ReplyDeleteIt is simple amazing to me (a non-knitter) that the plain skeins of yarn I picked up for you turned into this gorgeous sweater!! Color is even more wonderful than when it was rolled up into a ball...I can see that color would be perfect on Mark! Fabulous work!
