Inspire me...

It's been a few months since I posted about something that's inspiring me and when I saw these fantastic baskets, my creative juices started flowing.

I'm mad for these and want to find the right yarn to knit a few.  They appear to have a flat bottom so I'm thinking of using a linen stitch for that part but can anyone suggest what type of stitch for the body?  Perhaps it's just a simple garter or moss stitch but I can't quite tell.

I love baskets and find them incredibly useful as catch-alls around the house.  If you have any suggestions on how to make these, I'd love to hear them.

  1. These look to be woven, but I think you could mimic this look with moss stitch. I think you'd need a pretty stiff yarn if you wanted to put anything heavy, like magazines, inside. I might even use cotton rope from the hardware store.

  2. Those look adorable! They would be really useful too. I personally don't like the stitch shown too much, but I cannot think of which one would work better right the moment.

  3. Pickles has a free pattern for something just like this.

I think Moss stitch would work well if you knit them. It kind of looks like these were made with a ropey yarn and woven cause its under and over.

  4. Very pretty. I agree that these seem woven. Linen stitch might work--or maybe criss-cross stitch.
