It's All About the Leg

After many weeks of Miranda bugging asking me for a pair of leg warmers, I cast on this design and was happy with the way the two-tone purple stripes were developing.

But when I got to about 6 inches long and had her try it on, I swear it was as if I were knitting a leg warmer for an elephant! Has that ever happened to you?  The piece looks completely fine and then BAM! it's twice the size you thought it was.  So, frog I did and then cast on this one:  ahhh, happiness and joy.

Maxima in Peach Melba

I finished these just in time for Saturday's dance class and the weather has just turned cool again.

As we know, leg warmers aren't just for dancing ... they make a fun fashion statement, too. My final review of Maxima:  great for accessories as the variegated colors work well on small projects and the fabric knitted up is super soft and very cozy.  I have enough left over for another pair of leg warmers or maybe I'll knit a matching cowl?  Too much?

  1. Was it the yarn that simply stretched too much in the case of the two tone purples? Glad you didn't get too far along before you had to frog, love the peach colorway.

  3. So sorry to hear about the first leg warmer mishap, good thing it is just a simple tube and isn't too heartbreaking to frog. But seriously, you have to make something else with those two colors, they look so pretty together. The final pair look super cute!

  9. oooh those are so cute!! perhaps a matching set of legwarmers for yourself? unless of course, DD would find that "uncool", then of course a cowl is perfect! ;)

  10. I love the "action" shots! I don't think the cowl is over kill, if she agrees :).

  11. Okay...NOW Miranda looks like the card I made her. Tell the truth...is that what really inspired wanting leg warmers???

  14. Your daughter looks great in them! And yes, recently I finished 75% of a sweater, (in my defense, with a rather odd construction that made it difficult to tell where you were in the pattern), when I realized my modifications to upsize it had upsized it to about me plus three-quarters of me. Sigh. A long dip into the frog pond...but it's on track again now.

  15. Coming from this part of the world (where bright colours seem to be what everyone wears!) they don't look too vibrant at all. Beautiful colour, and a nice dash of colour on a muted wardrobe! They're very lovely.

  16. ooh, her legwarmers look fantastic!! that's a shame the first one was coming out too big, but at least you found out before both were cast off, that's always a pain.

  17. What a great pop of color for your beautiful daughter! I love how she wore them w/her Uggs too.
I love the two-toned purple. I hope you didn't get that far when you had to frog; glad you had a back up plan that worked out.
