The Four Seasons - 3KCBWDAY4

One of my closest blogger friends lives halfway across the world from me, and we've often talked about the way we're knitting in different seasons from one another. I still find it amazing that she celebrates Christmas in the summer, and while I'm planning summer knits like tanks and lace-weight shawls, she's hunkering down with her chunky and aran weight cardigans.

Make Up Your Mind Tank by Julia Crawford

Living in the northeast of the US gives me all four seasons. Okay, maybe we didn't have the coldest winter in history, but I did get to light the fireplace a few times in December. I'm a seasonal knitter because my mind and body is completely programmed to the seasons that I happily grew up with. I love to knit cold-weather accessories and sweaters in the fall and winter months, and I am just as excited to knit warm-weather knits as spring and summer approaches. In other words, knitting for me is a year-round joy, and I have definitely been found to knit a bulky-weight cowl or woolly hat while vacationing on the beach.

One thing is certain:  my new-found love of baby knits will be a mainstay among my WIPs all through the year. The small size makes it easy to quickly adapt a winter cardigan to a light-weight yarn for the summer baby and vice versa. I recently got this cutie off the needles and am itching to cast on another in some nice cotton. I'll be stash diving this weekend to see what I can find -- fear not, I know I have something nice that will work!

  10. Awww, sooo cute!! The baby who wears that will get lots of 'oohs' and 'ahhs'. I'm just a knit whatever/whenever kind of girl - cotton and I are not friends so I rarely knit in it unless it's blended with wool.

  12. That is an adorable baby sweater! I sometimes knit winter wear in the summer too, but only things that won't drape on my lap and make me too warm. Hats and socks are perfect for that!
