Jump for Fall #2: Gray Day

Since finishing the Westwood Blouse, I've been motivated to cast on more fall/winter garments and couldn't resist this simple yet interesting pattern.  Sweetgum Duncan has a great retro look and while I would have liked to follow the color scheme exactly, I am being really serious about knitting from stash.  I have enough Cascade 220 in a silvery gray color to knit a medium-size pullover so if I like the way this turns out, I may knit one with stripes next time.  I'm calling my pullover Gray Day.

I'm working on US6 KnitPicks interchangeable and I'm reminded by how much I love these.

I'm almost done with the ribbed yoked portion and will be splitting for the sleeves this weekend.  I can already tell that I'm going to love this pullover for the winter -- Cascade 220 produces such a cozy fabric that isn't too heavy but will definitely keep me warm.

As today is the deadline to complete the first Jump for Fall challenge, I'm on target (fingers crossed) to cast on and complete my second one!  If you'd like to join a fun group of knitters who are knitting for their fall/winter wardrobe, come on over to our KAL group on Ravelry. We'd love to have you and the more of us cheering one another on, the more likely we'll have more hand-knit sweaters in our closets ... and that's a good thing!

Happy crafty weekend, everyone!

  5. Such a pretty gray--looks so cozy. You can't really go wrong with Cascade 220 can you? I wish I had the money and the time to knit up some fall wardrobe stuff--oh, and the talent. I have never knit a long sleeve sweater (working on 1st one for one of my Grans). I am a plus size gal, so the yarn needed is always so much more than regular sizes---I am hoping to knit a cardi for myself after Christmas-it will be a challenging undertaking for sure.
Looking at your pretty garments is sure inspiring though!

  7. Great colour, looks like a really nice pattern, , I've just started a pullover, last time I knitted all the bits and sewed it up after, this time it's in the round so I'm excited to see how it turns out, feels a little long winded at the moment, but I have to remember it's front and back...can't be bad!
