Let's Try This Again

Remember this?

Well, it grew into this.

I was pretty happy with how the top was progressing but when Miranda tried it on, it fit snugly, which is to say that it hugged her slim body like a glove.  Being the sweetheart that she is, she said that she was fine with having a close-fitting sweater but let's be real:  the girl is going to grow and I don't think a snug top is the most comfortable thing to wear.  So, like any self-respecting knitter would do, I frogged the design and have decided to revise this original pattern ... another time!
This yarn is too yummy to let sit in my stash so I did a a little searching and found a pattern that matches the concept of the sweater Miranda had in mind.  I cast on the Diagonal Mesh sweater over the weekend and I'm enjoying this simple knit. I think this should go fairly quickly so fingers crossed!

  1. Ooh, I love the new fabric that you're making. Looks squishy!

  2. Crossed fingers for you. That's too bad about the original, though. I know how you feel. I just frogged back a skirt that I was *this* close to finishing because it was going to be too short for my daughter. On well. It's a good investment in getting it right; otherwise it's a shame if it never gets worn.

  3. Bummer! But your new start looks great, and like it will have the floppy shape I think she's going for. Just remember - you're getting more knitting pleasure for the same $$!

  4. Ah, sizing is such a bummer. Lucky she's little! :)

  5. I'm sure that take two will work out even better. I envy your patience with starting projects over. I become a basket case every time I have to frog something I spend so much time on.

  8. Honestly, the pattern published by Lion looked pretty boring because of the color they used..but you've snazzed it right up and I'm adding it to my list!

  9. I have a difficult time finishing the things I start and you are willing to frog something completed and start all over again! I admire that!

  11. It's a shame it didn't fit, because that was a gorgeous design, but I love the new one you're doing!

  13. I really like what you were doing with the collar of your design. The idea has legs - you must develop it! The mesh sweater is lovely though, and Miranda will look very sweet in it. Good find!
