49 ... 50

Can you guess what today's post is about?  It's my birthday but not just any old birthday ... I'm 50 today, and it's both an amazing and shocking feeling to have hit half a century.  My dear friend, Toni, told me that turning 50 was freeing for her, and I love that idea.  So, on this very special birthday, I'm looking forward to shedding the doubts and roadblocks that have been scattered throughout my life over the years and embrace a more free me!

Now, let's talk knitting!  As a birthdaygift to myself, I started a new knit-along over on the Project: Stash KAL group on Ravelry.  Every now and then, we knitters need to knit just for ourselves and in the Pour Moi KAL we'll be choosing a project that we've been stalking and that will take us a little out of our comfort zone. I'm thinking of knitting a lace shawl as I've not tried to knit a full lace pattern before.  I've got this beautiful skein of Lorna's Laces Solemate in their stoplight colorway which might turn into this.

I'd love you to join me!

  7. Happy Birthday, Evelyn! Hope this is a blessed and liberating year for you. I was just thinking about leaving my comfort zone with my knits today, also in red. I may have to wait to cast on so I can be part of your KAL.

  8. OMGosh! Has it been a year already? No way, 50? You so don't look it. I hope your day is fantastic.
That color is way pretty and it will be so awesome in that shawl. I haven't started on my shawl yet. The yarn needs to be wound and I wanted to CO fewer sts so I have to put on my thinking cap. I can join in on the Pour Moi KAL.
