FO: Winging to Montreal

Thanks to everyone (knitter and non-knitter friends, alike) for offering your thoughts on my last post ~ I especially like the ones who suggested I knit both shawls!  I think I'm going to go with that advice and choose the lace-weight wrap first as I'll be able to wear that one as soon as it's off the needles.  Believe me, the other one won't be far behind.

There are a lot of projects about to jump on my needles so last night I decided to pick up my Winging to Montreal shawl and finish the final rows.  I'm not usually a big fan of garter stitch, but I found that the construction of this shawl completely works in this stitch.  But yarn choice is a huge factor in how well this design will come out, and I chose wisely in using my one skein of Ball and Skein Sophia, as it was incredibly well-matched.

There is a certain type of heft and drape that this design calls for and with a yarn that is too slick, the garter stitch will become loosey goosey and much too open making the shawl bleh rather than oohh.

Sophia is a merino, nylon, and cashmere blend ~ perfect for keeping the triangles smooth and for producing a weight that gives this shawl the right drape for wrapping around my shoulders beautifully.

Alright, my needles are free again so I just may cast on my pour moi KAL project today.
