Unravelled: Caramel

When I went through my clothes closet and pulled these four hand-knit sweaters out to recycle, I had no idea the hours it would take me to unravel them.  Still, as I reacquaint myself with the yarns, I'm pleasantly reminded of why I wanted to knit with them the first time around.  This past weekend, I devoted a couple of hours to frogging my Caramel cardigan. Now that I've already unravelled a sweater, I'm becoming quite the expert.

The two small balls of yarn you see in the above photograph were the sleeves and the big ball next to them?  Yeah, that's the three skeins of Berroco Vintage that I had double knotted together when I knit the cardigan originally.

It's pretty cool to have this huge ball of yarn to work with when I decide what this beautiful teal-green worsted weight will become.  Right now, I'm tempted to knit a few hats and mitts with my recycled BV, but I'll let it sit and just be yarn for a little while.  There is, however, a new hat design that I've been thinking about ...

  1. What a great way to start the New Year on a note of "possibility." Looking forward to seeing your new hat concept as well as what this yarn is destined to become.

  2. Thanks ~ it does feel really great to think of these projects as something new (rather than as failures).

  3. I love this color. I think it's great you're going to repurpose the yarn, but let it "just be yarn" for now. Happy knitting and designing !

  5. Gorgeous blue. I hope that you make a sweater out of it. Can't wait to see the hat pattern.

  6. Beautiful color - I think I have a cardigan in that same yarn. Good luck picking a project. It would be so hard for me to frog an existing sweater since it takes me so long to knit them the first time!
