22 Little Clouds

A few weeks ago, when I embarked on my one-skein challenge, the first pattern that jumped onto my needles was Martina Behm's 22 Little Clouds. I hadn't knit a Behm design before and while I know she's designed a gazillion patterns, I thought I'd start off with one of her free patterns to get a sense of what she's like as a designer.

I decided on one of my older skeins, one that I had in my stash since August 2012 (yikes!).  Bugga is wildly popular but like a Behm design, I had never knit with it before so this little project was going to enable me to cross off two items from my knitting bucket list.

The combination of yarn and pattern is a total win-win. The subtle but vibrant color changes are gorgeous and the simplicity of the pattern made the shawl practically knit itself.

I would say that my first one-skein challenge project was a huge success ~ just not sure if I should keep this beauty or gift it?

  5. What a lovely pop of colour, and in a lovely simple shape that will go well with the neutrals you like to wear. I think you should keep it. :-) Your little girl is growing up into a lovely young woman.

  7. I totally agree with Gail! Such a pretty shawlette! I often give shawls and then I've got nothing to keep me warm :-) It's good to be selfish sometime...

  8. So pretty! I'm not usually an orange sort of gal, but I love it. I'm so terrible at giving away knit items - I would definitely be keeping this one if it were mine! ;)

  9. 22 Little Clouds is such a great knit for one skein (as are so many of Martina's patterns). i was just looking at it again this week.

as for the question of keep it or gift it - is that even really a question? new yarn, new pattern that you loved to knit - you HAVE to keep it :)

  11. Lovely work as always. You can't lose: If you give it to a knitworthy friend, you'll gain major points and vicarious pleasure. If you keep it, you have the perfect accent piece and get to hear the oohs and ahhs each time you wear it. Win-win!
