In Search of Yarn

Slowly but surely, the temperatures are starting to rise to a point where I can think about wearing tees and tanks and, of course, this turns my mind to knitting some tees and tanks. I fell pretty hard when I first saw this simple yet jazzy knitted top ~ I mean, c'mon, look at those fabulous little fringe details ~ and I'm feeling inspired to start scouting out the perfect yarn for this project. No, this isn't a pattern but with some careful looking and notes, I think I can re-create it.

For all my years of knitting, I have to admit that I've stuck pretty loyally to the same small circle of yarns I've used in the past, but this season, I'm looking to bust out a bit and try my hand at new-to-me companies and fibers. So, what are your thoughts?  Linen? Flax? Cotton? Merino blend? I'd love your help!

  1. You are a much better knitter than me! I can't even begin to imagine knitting a garment for myself without a pattern. I think Linen would be fantastic!

    1. Well, we'll see how well I do! Yes, I'm considering linen which would definitely be a new yarn for me. Thanks.

  3. A friend just made a tee top using Quince & Co. Kestrel - a linen chainette - and she loved knitting with it. Rowan Panama might be nice for this one too.

    1. Kestrel is at the top of my list but I'll definitely check out Panama ... thanks, G!

  4. Cute cute cute! I love the fringe detail and seed stitch (?) plus a tank is perfect for Spring/Summer. I think Quince and Co Sparrow or Hempathy would be fun choices. Or a merino/silk blend could also work nicely.

  5. You can make that. I'm still wrapping my head around warmer weather clothing. I'm still stubbornly clinging to my cold weather knits.

  6. Oh I am excited for this design! I am a creature of habit, but for something like this, I would definitely lean toward linen or bamboo for drape, maybe a blend? Keep us posted!
