My friend Erin recently asked me to give a little update on my Missoni-inspired afghan and I don't want to disappoint.
As you may recall, I started this afghan after reading Reckless Glue's post about her Missoni-inspired beauty. At the start of one of our many road trips this past summer, I filled my canvas knitting bag with skeins and skeins of stashed yarn (Berroco Vintage, Cascade 220, Patons), threw in a US 8 circular needle, and cast on once we started our journey to Washington, DC.
I didn't have a game plan in mind -- the colors were going to be completely random (or at least what was already in my stash with no designated pattern for them). And as you can see, the bands of color vary in height which I like. I've been steadily working on this WIP over the last three months, and it's been such a nice project especially at the end of a long day at work, when I really want to knit but I don't have the mental energy to keep a complicated pattern in my mind or do too much counting.
So, my dear Erin, this little beauty is more than half-way done and I'll soon be running out of stash bits so completion is near. I'm determined not to buy any new yarn for this project and expect you to hold me to that!
Doesn't this look lovely against my leather club chair? |
I truly love it! What a great stash buster. The colors are all wonderful together and the different widths make it all the more interesting. It will be so nice to cuddle under this winter too.
ReplyDeleteTotally fantastic job! I pinned yours on Pinterest :O).
ReplyDeleteI would so rather knit my own than buy one.
This is lovely and what a great stash buster. I like the varying widths a lot.
ReplyDeleteThat is absolutely stunning, and does indeed look fantastic on your chair! Thanks for sharing the pictures.
ReplyDeleteWait, was this the throw that your significant other will use in his study when it gets drafty? LOL, you might need to rethink that, this turned out to be too pretty to hide away out of daily view. I love the colors and how they look together! Nice job. And, yes, I will reluctantly hold you to the yarn enhancing freeze for this particular project. Not sure how, but I'm wagging my finger at you little lady! And I mean it! lol
ReplyDeleteThis is way cool! I am seriously color-challenged and have trouble deciding what goes with what. Your color sense is wonderful!
ReplyDeleteThat's very nice. Love the colours! Very Missoni. It looks identical in method to Creekbed (the Stephen West scarf I'm knitting). I too, use that project for 'when I don't want to think' knitting.
ReplyDeletePerhaps I should do one of those with all my small one-balls of left-over yarn from projects! Thanks for the inspiration.
It's gorgeous!!! I adore the colours you chose---love how the different yarns seem to be working seamlessly together.
ReplyDeleteOh wow! This is amazing, you have truly inspired me!
ReplyDeleteWow, LOVE this! I have been obsessed with missoni lately and seeing your afghan has totally fueled the fire. I love how all the colors work so well together and all from your stash too!
ReplyDeleteCrazy, I thought I had commented on your wonderful needlework.
ReplyDeleteSuch wonderful colors, Evelyn
