(Over)Inspired

Yes, you read my post title correctly. Saturday marked my one-year anniversary of Project: Stash and in Friday's post, I wrote about giving myself a stashdown challenge. After I posted that, I felt really inspired by my challenge and then I read your project suggestions and my brain went into overdrive. I love each and every suggestion -- please keep them coming! What I love about hearing your ideas is that your suggestions give me a glimpse into your own tastes and creativity. Some of you love colorwork while others have a favorite hat pattern that you hope others will heart, too. I'm completely open to trying new designs and this is such a fun way to be introduced to patterns I've not looked at before.

To satisfy my inner neat geek, I've created a new pattern set in my Ravelry library for this challenge which includes the projects you suggested (thank you). I'm looking at my stash in such a different way now. Where I saw lonely one-skeins of yarn before, I now see beautiful small projects.

I am so excited and (over)inspired but, of course, this now means three things:  I will be breaking my rule of not having more than one WIP on my needles, my year of projects list has been completely revised, and I wish I were an octopus!

  1. That's so cool! I didn't realize you could make a set like that in the new library section. Hmmmmmm! The wheels are spinning!

  4. In the wee hours of this morning, while attempt to fall back to sleep. I had a brilliant idea.
At present, there is enough yarn in my stash to knit 17 pair of sox. My brilliant plan is to break my habit of having only one or two, oh, yes, or even three pair of sox on the needles at one time. Why not co some of the sox that I truly want to knit with the 'best yarn for that design' and have multiple projects to pick and chose when ever the whim comes round.
hmmm, I'll have to think about this during the light of day.

  5. Happy blogiversary! I just caught up with your previous post, and think you have come up with a wonderful idea! I can't wait to see some of these projects come into being ^_^
That pattern set idea is really cool, too. I sometimes can't believe how many ravelry features I am not taking advantage of.

  6. Great list! I have very fond memories of knitting $5 in Paris, it is a great project for when you want a vanilla project that you don't have to pay much attention to. I cannot wait to see all of the wonderful projects that come out of this new challenge!

  7. Happy Blogiversary!! As I've said to you before, 79 skeins? Pshaw! You should see what I have. Hehehe. To knit some of that down is a good thing though - it leaves room for more happy, guilt-free yarn acquisition. Another cool idea for a stash-down (particularly of yarns that you're not overly fond of any more and it will take up more than one ball) is a linen-stitch table runner. You can stripe the colours through it, and because you're slipping every second stitch it's a great one to create a pretty, woven fabric look. Happy Knitting!!

  9. May have to go through some of your list because I need the same type of inspiration. I think it's great how inspired and enthusiastic you are about this project!

BTW: Got the giveaway yarn today, Thanks so much!

  11. If you don't have them already, the One Skein Wonders books are great for this sort of thing!
