A Spring Knit

I've been so incredibly disciplined of late:  not only have I been knitting down my stash (applause is welcome here) but I've also kept to my goal of only having two WIPs on my needles at a given time. Maybe turning 49 has finally taught me proper restraint!

I don't know about you, but I really love the last bind-off stitch. I'm all about process but completion feels pretty darn good, too. I cast on this pattern in early April and it sped along fairly quickly.

I love the cowl element and the simplicity of the design. I've never knit with Queensland Collection Super Aussie before and was pleased with how the fabric developed -- it's soft and springy and after a soak and a blocking, it blossomed beautifully.

Miranda is only modeling the caponcho with the eyelet seam in the front but the piece can be worn more like a cape with the eyelet seams down each arm. I like how that detail makes this such an interesting design.

This makes a really great spring knit, and I might knit this again in a cotton blend for those summer nights when the air turns a little cool. Don't you think this is perfect for throwing over a summer dress or to add a little color to denim shorts and a tank?

Your discipline rocks. I think two WIPs at a time is good as well; I used to do three but found two now to be enough. I'm eager to get the knitting one done.
Your caponcho is so lovely, Evelyn. Yes, it would be a very nice splash of color over anything.
    Pish-shaw! You don't look 49; you look 30s!

  5. You definitely deserve applause! I am so impressed by how you have started knitting down your stash, you have certainly inspired me (as always). The caponcho turned out very lovely, the neck definitely gives it a special something. And don't you just love the stitch definition that only cotton can provide?
