My First Time

I went to my very first yarn tasting last night, and I'm definitely going to add this to my regular routine whenever I can.  This weekend is New York City's Yarn Crawl and a couple of my local yarn stores kicked off a day early with trunk shows, talks, and yarn tastings. As I had never heard of Imperial Stock Ranch Yarns before, I immediately signed up when The Yarn Company announced their yarn tasting.

Their yarns are really beautiful ~ texture, color, and variety ~ but I decided to give the yarn a little more thought as they are quite rustic, and I've not always had the best experience with similar ones.  So, I tasted and chatted with a warm and funny group of women, admired the beautiful garments in the trunk show, and then fell in love with all the patterns designed for Imperial Stock Ranch yarns.  I was immediately smitten with the Andora Cape pattern and bought it on the spot.

In the trunk show, this cape was knit in black with their Erin line and it was gorgeous.  Do you see that hidden bonus pocket, perfect for keeping your hands toasty?  Yeah, I already know what's jumping on my needles this weekend!

  1. That must have been a fabulous evening. A yarn tasting sounds like the perfect way to get to know a yarn and decide before you buy. I like the cape design too!
