I'm joining in Ginny's Yarn Along this week.
I spent part of last weekend working on my Derry Raglan pullover and am excited to say that I only have two inches left to knit on the second sleeve! Once that's done, I'll pick up along the neckline and finish the collar. This has been a terrific project, and I'm looking forward to having a new sweater to show off next week.
In the meantime, I've been steadily adding hexipuffs to my Skyfall quilt. I'm now up to eight hexipuffs (that's roughly two per week), but I'd like to try and knit a few more within a month to reach that final goal.
I'm nearing the end of Salvage the Bones and am a bit in awe of how the book is constructed. Told over the course of 12 days, this story of four brothers and one sister in the days just prior to Hurricane Katrina is full of tough moments and tender love.
And now, I'm happy to announce the winner of last week's Winning Wednesday giveaway:
Zoey!
This week, I'm giving away two balls of Crystal Palace Biwa yarn, one in cream and one in dusty rose. Each is 88 yards of dk mercerized pearl cotton, perfect for dish/wash cloths. To win, let me know what is your favorite dish/washcloth pattern. Good luck!
I like trying out different stitch patterns when I knit dishcloths but my go to pattern when I want something mindless to knit is a good old seed stitch dishcloth.
ReplyDeleteI love doing dishcloths and at present am teaching them to My Thursday Nite Free Class. We knit for Homeless Teens in Our Community. My favorite pattern is the leaf pattern. Made 40 of them for My Brother & Sister-in-laws wedding shower last year. As Louise mentioned its an easy pattern. Have done so many I can do without pattern now.....
ReplyDeleteI haven't yet, but Maggie Weldon's Floral Bouquet of Dishcloths makes me want to learn to crochet, just to be able to make the sunflower one! What I usually do, like Wildflower, I try out stitch patterns on dishcloths, then I get the fun of something new and maybe a little challenging without the commitment to do it for a whole scarf or something.
ReplyDeleteI love doing dishclotthes and making my own design or just a differnt stitch pattern k4 purl to last 4 k4
ReplyDeleteMy wife taught me how to knit. My favorite it the basketweave - perhaps because it doesnt require a lot of counting. My wife purls funny and it's one that most people do a double take on.
ReplyDeleteI love using the Initial Dishcloth pattern found in Erika Knight's "Natural Nursery Knits" - they're super simple, but also interesting to knit. Plus, it makes people feel like it was made especially for them.
ReplyDeleteI like to knit dishcloths. I belong to 2 Yahoo KAL groups. I knit 3 dishcloths a month with these group using different patterns. My favorite pattern would be the one using the Waffle Stitch.
ReplyDeleteI like a waffle stitch dishcloth as it looks nice knit with solid colors and variegated colors!

I love the colors of your skyfall blanket! I've forgotten to take pictures the past few days to remind me of the sky color. I suppose I should start knitting up some squares too! Pretty yarn you are giving away! My standard dish cloth pattern is cast on 3. Knit each row increasing one stitch each row until there's about 45 stitches on the needle. Then decrease. Easy & mindless & pretty!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you are on the home stretch for you lovely sweater! Isn't finishing the second sleeve satisfying? Honestly, I don't really knit dishcloths, I cannot say why, I just don't enjoy them as much as most other projects.
ReplyDeleteAh! I can not believe I won I am so excited! Thank you for the chance to win last week I can not wait to knit with it! I love love love your hexipuffs. I always dream about knitting that blanket but I just don't think I have that level of commitment.
ReplyDeleteThat book sounds really good, and I need a new read, so I am going to search the library! As for discloths, hmmmm, I really like basic patterns, like waffle stitches and ribbings.
ReplyDeleteI love the one from Purlbee blog. So simple.

ReplyDeleteI just won, so I'll let someone else take my entry spot this week, but I wanted to pop over and say hello. I'm joining stashbusters, so those little hexipuffs may be finding their way into knitting bag too. Can't wait to see your sweater! Happy knitting this week. :-)
ReplyDeleteI love that yarn! My all time, hands down favorite dishcloth pattern is the Waffle Knit Dishcloth. It can be found here:
